Expert Introduction
Junru Wu (Chief Professor of the Summer Forum) He currently is a Professor of Physics, University of Vermont, USA.He has been considered one of internationally renowned experts in nonlinear physics, soliton physics, and the biological physics. He has achieved several important discoveries and inventions. Particularly, he and his mentor professor Rudnick at UCLA discovered non-propagating hydrodynamic solitons in 1993; it was named as “Wu-tons” and “Wu-particles” to honor his contribution. This achievement has made him to become one of a few invited speakers at the Institute Advanced Study at Princeton USA, where Albert Einstein had worked. His contribution to nonlinear acoustics was listed as one of the most important achievement in Physics Acoustics in “Acoustical Society of America 75th Anniversary Time-Line.” He has published more than 120 papers in Physical Review Letter, the Journal of Acoustic Society, Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, the Physics in Medicine and Biology, Journal of Controlled Release, and the Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews. Between 1998 and 2008, he was the chairman of the Physics department, University of Vermont. He was elected as a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America in 1991, a Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine in 1996, and an Elected Life-time-Full Member of Academy of Science and Engineering in the state of Vermont in 2001. He has received several awards for his teaching and research, among them: an Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award, from UCLA in 1983 and National Scientific Progress Award (China), First Prize(国家科技进步一等奖) in 1986. He owns several patents for his pioneering work in Energy Harvesting and Blast Water Treatment; he is a co-founder of Microgen Systems Inc. in USA. |
